The Friends of Music Concert Season Debuts with “The Power of Ten”
Shepherdstown, WV - Friends of Music (FOM) will launch a much anticipated 2010 - 2011 concert season on Saturday, September 18 with the renowned Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra concert at the Frank Arts Center on the campus of Shepherd University. Now in its fourth year, the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra has gained wide popular and critical acclaim. With selections from Glinka, Albinoni, Haydn and Dvorak featuring Shepherd’s own principal oboist Greg Shook, this concert promises to be a very exciting evening.
“While every season has been a hit,” said Dr. Mark McCoy, chairman of the Shepherd University Department of Music and conductor of the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra,
“I think this may well be our best to date. The depth of talent, the tremendous variety and the incredible musicianship in the lineup will make this a season to remember.”

The Canadian Brass Quintet Holiday Concert, sponsored by Bowles Rice, will take place on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 8:00 PM. This concert is not included in the subscription package but tickets are being offered separately at a greatly reduced price of $35 if purchased before September 18.
"This will be an exciting season for music lovers." said Friends of Music president Neal Barkus. “Manuel Barrueco will bring us classical guitar at its best, the Canadian Brass will entertain us during the holiday season and the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra's spring concert will present unusual and very beautiful music from South America."
On Friday Sept. 17, 2010 the public is cordially invited to "Lunch with Friends" at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown. This event has become a popular tradition on the day before a Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra concert. Dr. McCoy will once again lead the program with highlights of the upcoming concert.
